September, 2011
MOVE: the company will open the 2011 season of the Joyce SoHo with three exciting works, including a reprise of the acclaimed “Allemande” premiered there last season.
New works for this performance include “Marcato”, a work for five male dancers set to the music of NY-based composer Kevin Keller. The movement style of this piece is derived from the musical term marcato, which is sound characterized by a rhythmic thrust followed by a decay of the sound.
Also on the program will be the US-premiere of Beamish’s work “black tent on the plains”. Playing within the sparse structure of British composer Charlie Usher’s composition, the work delicately unravels the established dynamic of three women navigating a boundless plain.
