MOVE: the company and the Drive Dance Centre Resident Artist Program present:
"upRising"
Monday, March 7th and Tuesday, March 8th - The Dance Centre, Vancouver, BC
8pm nightly
upRising features the World Premiere of Matjash Mrozewski's New Work for MOVE: the company alongside new creations by MOVE: the company's Caitlin Griffin, Crystal Wills and Matthew Waldie, performed by the Drive Dance Centre Training Program Students. MOVE: the company has also invited Port Coquitlam-based pre-professional youth company KIC (“Kids in Creation”) to present a commission from MOVE: the company choreographer Heather Dotto. Artistic Director Josh Beamish will be sitting in the back seat this time, as this event marks the first MOVE: the company presentation to not feature any of his works. Cementing the new face of MOVE: the company as an open and inclusive centre for artistic exploration and innovation, upRising pairs Vancouver's Internationally renowned contemporary dance company with one of Canada's most prolific and sought after contemporary ballet choreographers. To book end five seasons of evolution from a volunteer youth company to full-time charitable dance organization, MOVE: the company has taken the opportunity to invite four of Vancouver's most promising emerging dancemakers to present short works for the Drive Dance Centre and KIC's future generations of professional performers.
Tickets: $20. Available at http://www.ticketweb.ca (search "Move: the company"), at Drive Dance Centre, or at the door (cash only).
